2024 School Board Candidates

Jack Ocobock, a resident of Northern Michigan for 24 years, more recently has been a part of the Buckley Community for the past 5 years. Jack graduated from Kingsley High School and played College basketball.  Jack works at D&W Mechanical and has been employed there for the past 15 years.  Jack has 4 children, two that currently attend Buckley Schools and 2 that will attend when school age.  Jack enjoys working, Golfing, playing basketball, camping, UTV riding, driving his antique tractors at the Old Engine Show and is involved with a local 4-H group.  Jack is looking forward to being involved in the decisions that will impact our children’s future and being a part of making Buckley Schools a place people want to attend.  


Martin Rizzi is a husband and father of two Buckley students and Christ follower, Martin moved to Buckley seven years ago and has invested in students in a variety of ways including coaching, substitute teaching and extra curricular groups. His passion for students stems from his own experiences with mentors investing in him when he was headed in the wrong direction.  If he is given the opportunity to serve the community, Martin hopes to be able to offer an unique perspective based on his background in business and ministry.  

 


Christina Matthews is a dedicated advocate for educational excellence and community engagement. A resident of Buckley, Michigan with her husband Marcus, they have two children who attend Buckley Community Schools. She has enjoyed serving on the School Board for the past few years as a trustee and the Secretary. She also serves on the Buckley PTO board as well as helping to coordinate/manage youth soccer, basketball, and baseball teams within the Buckley Community. Christina holds a Master of Science degree in health science from Oakland University.

She has worked at Munson Medical Center for 12 years and is an Educator at Munson Medical Center. She has always found education to be important as well as rewarding. Christina envisions a future where students from every background feel welcomed and supported. She is looking forward to seeing what the future expansion holds for the liberal arts program at Buckley as well as upgraded safety and technology throughout the school district.

Growing up, Christina rode horses and loved being at the farm. Her family has started their 4H journey this year, and her children chose to raise swine as their first project. They have all learned so much and are grateful for all the farming expertise in Buckley and the support they have received. Vote for Christina Matthews to champion educational excellence and create positive change in our district!
